In this episode Helen Geake and Martyn Williams take you behind the scenes of the filming of a brand new Time Team programme. John and his team fire up their magnetrometry and GPR equipment to discover so much more about this amazing site. You'll hear conversations with John Gater, Jimmy Adcock, Stewart Ainsworth and Francis Pryor. Plus, Martyn gets a ride in the geophysics buggy to see how it all happens. John's answering questions about geophysics from Time Team members on the podcast too. We hope you enjoy this podcast.
When we first dug at Brancaster, we uncovered tantalising glimpses of this imposing shore fort, but many questions remained. Last autumn, we returned not with trowels, but with geophysics, carrying out detailed survey work across the site to see what still lies hidden beneath the surface. The results were fascinating. New anomalies, unexpected features, and fresh possibilities have given us a clearer sense of the fort’s layout and perhaps its later story too.

We’ll be sharing those findings in a dedicated episode very soon! In the meantime, this is the perfect opportunity to revisit the original dig, remind yourself what we discovered and catch up on a good old classic episode. As always, your support makes these returns and the deeper investigations that follow possible. We can’t wait to show you what the geophysics has revealed. Lots more to come from Branodunum!
