Time Team's Dig Watch is back!

Time Team will be digging two new sites this September: a Knights Hospitaller Preceptory and an Anglo-Saxon Cemetery. And we’re inviting you to join us online and interact with the team as the action unfolds on Patreon!

What is Dig Watch?

Dig Watch is our behind-the-scenes coverage during the making of Time Team. We will be providing exclusive access and unique insights into an archaeological dig, as well as the production process of creating a Time Team episode.

Think of it as the process, rather than the end product!

During each dig weekend, we will be filming, editing and posting content – quite literally, in the field – as it unfolds. As a result, please bear in mind we will be at the mercy of the weather, internet speeds and John Gater’s jokes.

What do we get?

Join Time Team on Patreon and get ready to sit back and enjoy daily updates from each site, in as close to real time as possible:

  • Site Walkabouts: daily trench tours
  • The Spoil Heap: Q&A sessions with the team answering your questions
  • Immersive 3D models and maps
  • Interviews with the producers, director and crew

But the coverage doesn’t stop after the dig. There will be many more Dig Watch insights to come in the weeks and months that follow each excavation – once we’ve returned home and cleaned off all the mud!

Of course, we can't share everything on site as it happens, but the full picture will emerge over time, with some special extra treats saved for the final completed episodes.

When does it start?

Very soon on Patreon! Watch this space for more details... We'll also be sharing some highlights on YouTube after the digs.

When and where can I watch the completed episodes?

Filming the digs is one stage in an ongoing process. The completed episodes are due to be released in Spring 2023 and will be available to watch worldwide for free on the Time Team Official YouTube channel.

How do I submit questions for the Q&As?

Look out for a Patreon post coming very soon, putting the call out for your questions. We'll try our best to answer as many as possible over each dig weekend.

What about the third site?

Our third new site is still currently in development and we will be sharing more details of the selection process on Patreon very soon.

Any other questions?
